System Release

Personal Development

System Release

Training overview

Before a well thought out, intelligently designed and properly constructed system can be shipped to customers, it needs to be integrated and tested aimed to verify and validate the proper functioning of the system for the customers.

Target audience

Intended for engineers starting their career in product development and for those who in their profession need the knowledge on how structured testing fits within the complete development process of High Tech (sub)systems

Learning objectives

  • Build your test awareness: Why are tests conducted? What is their benefit? How is the test role mapped on the V model?
  • Understanding how an integration and test strategy is created enabling you to use the limited time there is to get the maximum risk reduction before the system is released.
  • You will learn to use the outcome of the risk analysis to make choices on how to divide the test effort and be able to select a fitting dynamic test technique and coverage combination, to achieve the mentioned test coverage.

Program

Evening 1: Tuesday October 21st: Test awareness

We will dive into our knowledge of test awareness. During this evening you will receive a hardcopy handout with the course sheets and cases.

Homework: Find a story in/on the (social) media on product failure and explain if it was already found before release or was missed during product/system release.

Evening 2: Tuesday November 4th: Risk based testing method

Focus on the Risk Analysis using the Risk Based Testing Method, which you will practice with a class case.

Homework: How are the risks assessed at your company, and (how) is this information used to make choices in what to test thoroughly and what receives minor attention.

Evening 3: Tuesday November 18th: Dynamic test techniques

How Dynamic Test Techniques are used to translate requirements to a test design with fitting coverage and practice two dynamic test techniques with a class case. The Test Case Template completes the route from requirements to test cases.
