Sinterklaas for children

Sinterklaas is a legendary figure based on the patron saint of children – Sint Nicholas. During the three weeks preceding his name day, children receive small gifts and sweets for behaving well and singing holiday-themed songs. The Sint and his helpers, Pieten, are heroes of the daily TV show about their adventures. Children even watch it at school and discuss all of the events with each other and with adults. This yearly celebration culminates on December 6 with kids frequently receiving one of the most important presents of the holiday season.
