Estuaries have played a crucial role in the development of human civilization. In the course of time, estuaries have gone through several adverse changes in terms of increase in the water level and sediment concentration. This has lead to changes in the location and strength of sediment trapping locations, also known as estuarine turbidity maxima. The main objective of this thesis is to develop a three-dimensional model to understand the dynamics of estuarine turbidity maxima in tidally dominated estuaries with arbitrary geometry and bathymetry. A major part of this thesis is dedicated to the development of this model.
